Publication Process

Sufiya Journal of Islamic Studies implements a rigorous, transparent, and ethical publication process in accordance with international publication ethics standards to ensure academic integrity and scholarly quality.

Submission
Authors submit manuscripts through the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. Submitted manuscripts must comply with the journal’s aims and scope, author guidelines, formatting requirements, and publication ethics policy.

Editorial Screening
The editorial team conducts an initial screening to assess the manuscript’s relevance to the journal’s scope, compliance with the journal template, completeness of submission files, and adherence to ethical requirements. The manuscript is also checked for similarity using reliable plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts with substantial similarity concerns may be returned to the authors or declined, depending on the nature and extent of the similarity.

Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening undergo a double-anonymized peer review process by at least two independent reviewers. The review evaluates originality, scholarly contribution, methodological rigor, clarity of presentation, ethical compliance, and suitability for publication.

Editorial Decision
The editor makes an editorial decision based on the reviewers’ evaluations and the journal’s publication standards. The manuscript may be accepted, returned for revision, resubmitted for further review, or declined. Authors are provided with clear and constructive feedback.

Revision
Authors are required to revise their manuscripts in accordance with the comments and recommendations provided by the reviewers and/or editor. Substantial revisions may be sent for further review before a final decision is made.

Finalization
Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting, layout editing, and proofreading to ensure clarity, consistency, citation accuracy, and compliance with the journal’s formatting requirements.

Publication
Final articles are assigned Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs), published online in the designated issue, and made available for indexing in relevant databases.

Post-Publication Ethics
The journal follows internationally recognized publication ethics principles, including COPE guidance, in handling post-publication concerns. Corrections, retractions, expressions of concern, or other editorial actions may be issued when necessary to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.
